In January 1988, “Lori” acquired the status of a professional club (the 1st in Armenia and the 6th in the USSR). 

In the same year, “Lori” FC was in the top three of the southern zone and won the cup final of the All-Union Central Council of Trade Unions Cup of the 2nd League of the USSR in the city of Adler, defeating “Kyapaz” FC of Azerbaijan (Kirovabad, now Ganja) with a score of 2:0. 

The founder and first president of “Lori” FC is Norayr Zuloyan, who in 1989 Norik Muradyan, the 1st secretary of the last CPA Spitak RK, was invited to “SPITAK” FC, and in August 1990, he withdrew from active football activities and founded the “INTERCAP” charitable center of Armenia, thanks to which the youth teams of Lorets traveled to Europe several times for international in order to participate in tournaments.
